Broadmoor
Project Goal
A residential project within the Broadmoor neighborhood in New Orleans that brings the Mississippi River’s vital role in New Orleans’ history into the area to provide a welcoming and inviting home for those who suffered from Hurricane Katrina.
Process

Project Inception
At the beginning of the project our group became inspired by the rich history of New Orleans and its surrounding waterways. With this inspiration mind we designed our home to resemble a paddle steamboat, like one that used to travel up and down the Mississippi

Design Sketches
During the Schematic design phase our group went through many designs on how to get the building to represent various aspects of New Orleans and its waterways, ports, and naval vessels.

Design Development
In the Design Development phase, we decided to go with a more physical representation of a riverboat. We wanted to bring out the promenade deck of a river boat into the design. This would also allow the residents lots of open-air space.

Project Model
We created a Physical model of our design. This helped create a more ground and real feel to the project as a whole.

Final Project
This project was a wonderful way to learn the ins and outs of project design and development. This project accomplishes our goal of bringing out New Orleans' rich waterway history.
